| | Pieces of the Past: Money - the root of Jamaican currency |  Like many cultures, the first Jamaicans, the Taino Indians, used the barter system trading commodities for other commodities. Although there was some gold on the island, the Tainos used it for decorative purposes. When the Spanish arrived in the 1490s and began to trade with the Tainos, they tended to use glass beads and other trinkets. By the early 1500s coins were in use on the island…

It is the result of many years of research and includes several extensive family trees, information extracted from Jamaican newspapers, articles and many other sources. There is a source reference for every entry.
This is an upgrade of the 3rd edition and includes Burial Records at the St. Andrew Parish Church from 1657 - 2000 (over 7000). Also on the CD are 2 files listing names of several thousand slaves that were freed before the official abolition of slavery. In many cases the reputed fathers are also listed it.
