Go-LocalJamaica: Profile On Dancehall Queen Carlene

The dream of becoming a mortician is still alive in the mind of Carlene 'Dancehall Queen' Smith who said she also wants to perform autopsies. In an interview on the pool deck of her Lady Musgrave apartment, Carlene confessed she still wants to pursue this dream. She wants to do "facials" on the deceased to make them look the way they were, while alive. "Not because they are dead doesn't mean they have to look that way," she said. Youthlinkjamaica.com: Babies Do Grow Up And So Should Adults
I was having an interesting conversation with a couple of girlfriends recently about our growing up years, when a particularly disturbing topic arose.
We all came to the conclusion that the same men who had seen us as babies' years ago were now among the men who are today making advances at us. This definitely questions the integrity of the men in Jamaica. For more click here… (http://www.youthlinkjamaica.com/news4.html)

Mad CobraMad Cobra is back and will be talking to you on Wednesday 28 May, 2003 at 6pm (EST). He is this months www.jamaica-star.com artiste of the month. This popular deejay hit centre stage in 1992 when his song 'Flex' reached number 1 on the Billboard Rap charts. In fact he's only the second ever reggae artist to achieve that feat in over thirty years of trying. Not bad for a 26 year old who named himself after a character in the GI Joe comic books!

In 2002, he was featured on the Black Shadow Records "buzz" rhythm, where his "Press Trigger" became a huge smash in the dancehalls. He later followed up with "Haunted" for Black Shadow's 2003 rhythm "Surprise". "Haunted" also made a huge impact on the reggae charts in New York and Miami.
The Mad Snake is back, and with a vengeance and he will be taking your questions next week. If you want to find out more about this popular deejay click here http://www.go-jamaica.com/chat/biography-madcobra.html

Pieces Of The Past - The History of Spanish Town

In 1509, five years after having been marooned for 347 days in the northeastern town of Sevilla la Nueva, what is now known as St. Ann's Bay, Christopher Columbus bequeathed Jamaica to his heirs. For some 30 years early Spanish colonists settled in or near to St. Ann's Bay until they realized that these locations were plagued by swamps. They looked south to a town on a wide fertile plain, a town they named Villa de la Vega (Town of the Plain). Now known as Spanish Town, it was founded in 1534 and became the capital in 1538.
