The first time I twisted my hair back in 1994 I did it because it was gangsta...It was then a fashion statement to me because I was a little gangsta rebel not knowing the consequences of half the things I did...but that didn't last cause Mom dukes kept nagging me, telling me it would make me an outcast in society... "

I did it again at a much older age in 1999...this time it was more then just a fashion statement but I still had no idea why I did it really…"

Jamaica Star - Clearing The Air

FOLLOWING COMPLAINTS FROM protesting radio listeners, the Broadcasting Commission is moving to stop certain songs from being played on radio.

The songs which 'bleep out' or 'scratch out' one or two words without changing the meaning of the song are the target this time.

In a letter to radio and television stations dated in January of this year, the Commission stated that they were addressing the songs and television programmes which were 'laced with sexual innuendoes' and which serve as 'virtual sex manuals'.
