The
Jamaica Star - Elephant Man strikes gold |
Elephant
Man has taken Japan by storm, as his Good to Go
album has sold gold in that country.
After a successful tour in Japan, coupled with
several concert dates in association with the
famed Mighty Crown sound system, the verdict was
official, as it was announced last week that Ele's
album had attained gold status. Yes, Japan loves
the Elephant.

Nationwide
Programme Name: Nationwide
Programme Hosts: Cliff Hughes, Carol Narcisse,
Carol Vassall
Programme Description: Nationwide is a current
affairs magazine programme broadcast on Mondays to Fridays
from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The programme seeks to be
on the cutting edge of news reporting backed by in-depth
comment and incisive analysis. Its guiding creed is
embodied in the words, 'go where the truth leads'.
Nationwide's flagship features are its major newscasts
at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Cover Story, The Nation's Business
and Public Opinion. These constitute a solid mix of
hard news, current affairs and sports, and lifestyle
issues.
In the four years since its birth, Nationwide has carved
out a reputation for breaking major stories, fearless
news analysis and commentary, penetrative interviews
and up-to-the-minute coverage of news events.
It is also now viewed as required listening for policy
makers, the thinking Jamaican who has an interest in
public affairs and leaders of the socio-economic and
cultural spheres of national life.
About the Hosts:
Cliff Hughes, the chief host and executive producer
of Nationwide, has brought a wealth of knowledge and
experience to the programme, having spent over 16 years
in the Jamaican media. He started out as a trainee announcer
at Radio Jamaica Ltd, RJR, where he worked in the sports
and news departments. Hughes later assumed the position
of Head of television news at Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation,
JBC , at the age of 29, making him the youngest person
in Jamaica and the wider Caribbean ever to hold such
a position.
He hosted his first talk show, Perspective, on JBC television
in 1992, and his continued passion for this genre of
programming resulted in the birth of Nationwide, which
hit the airwaves in September 1998.
Next
week we will feature Carol Vassall,
