Jamaica.com - Coffee - "The wake up brew"
|
"Caafee is big people tea" is the word
from some folk in rural Jamaica. While others
say "Don't talk to me until I have had my
coffee". Whatever the saying it is true to
say that coffee is a popular beverage the world
over and here in Jamaica is no exception.

Nationwide
Programme Name: Nationwide
Programme Hosts: Cliff Hughes, Carol Narcisse,
Carol Vassall
Programme Description: Nationwide is a current
affairs magazine programme broadcast on Mondays to Fridays
from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. The programme seeks to be
on the cutting edge of news reporting backed by in-depth
comment and incisive analysis. Its guiding creed is
embodied in the words, 'go where the truth leads'.
Nationwide's flagship features are its major newscasts
at 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Cover Story, The Nation's Business
and Public Opinion. These constitute a solid mix of
hard news, current affairs and sports, and lifestyle
issues.
In the four years since its birth, Nationwide has carved
out a reputation for breaking major stories, fearless
news analysis and commentary, penetrative interviews
and up-to-the-minute coverage of news events.
It is also now viewed as required listening for policy
makers, the thinking Jamaican who has an interest in
public affairs and leaders of the socio-economic and
cultural spheres of national life.
About the Hosts:
Carol Vassall, with over 23 years of experience
as a civil lawyer, contributes to the depth of analysis
for which Nationwide is reputed, when she co-hosts the
programme on Thursdays and Fridays with Hughes. She
is fairly new to the field of talk radio, having served
as club member of Hot 102's Breakfast Club for over
a year, before joining the Nationwide team in March
2002.
She came to media attention when she spoke out against
the injustices in the coffee industry on talk shows,
as an advocate for the Jamaica Coffee Growers' Association.
Vassall is still passionately solution-oriented , and
she believes that through her role as co-host of Nationwide
she can contribute to solutions to many of the country's
problems.
Next
week we will feature Carol Narcisse
