Standing in line at a small takeout restaurant in Greenwich, London, I noticed a tall, dark man with dreadlocks, standing about 20 feet away. He was the first dreadlocked fellow I had seen since arriving in England. The man was wearing green pants and a black sweater with army style boots and had a stern look on his face. Beside him was a short, slim, Asian woman who was staring blankly at the menu on the wall in front of her. They were holding hands

Jamaica Star Artiste of the Month of June: Munga in the Kitchen

MungaThe Star artiste for the month of June, Munga Honoureble and this weeks he enters the kitchen,

For about three hours, he traded the microphone for a spoon and other kitchen utensils.

Stewed tofu, ackee and saltfish and rice and peas were on the menu.

The meal was started from scratch with Munga personally ridding the the ackees of the seeds, slicing the tofu into cubes and pressure cooking the peas.

Tech Tip: Using our RSS feeds with GMAIL

rssRSS (Really Simple Syndication) is a 'feed' format for sharing and distributing Web content, such as news headlines. Using an RSS reader, you can view data feeds from various news sources including Gleaner sites.

This week, we start a series on how you can use RSS feeds provided by the Go-Jamaica(Gleaner) sites.

GMAIL(Google Mail)

Gmail uses webclips. Web Clips show you news headlines, Gmail tips, blogs, any RSS and Atom feed, relevant sponsored links, and more -- right at the top of your inbox and messages. Receive updates from your favorite sites without having to leave Gmail!

To add Jamaica Gleaner News headlines to your Web Clips:

  1. Log in to your Gmail account.
  2. Click Settings at the top of any Gmail page.
  3. Open the Web Clips tab.
  4. Enter the Voice Online feed URL (http://www.jamaica-gleaner.com/feed/rss.xml ) under Search by topic or URL.
  5. Click Search.
  6. Once Gmail locates the feed, click Add so you can view it in Web Clips!
