Programme Profile

Programme Name: The Prayer Line

Programme Hosts:

Programme Time: Sundays - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.

Programme Description:

Pastor 'Bobby' Wilmott's relationship with POWER106FM began in the latter part of 1992, when he was asked to pray for the station and its staff before it went on air on December 1, 1992. However, in February 2003, his prayer role took on a new dimension, when the management of POWER106FM approached him with the request to host a new programme ' The Prayer Line'. The programme was initially aired between 7pm and 8pm, but due to overwhelming response another hour was soon added to the programme. After a number of time changes, the programme has now settled at its current broadcast time - Sundays between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

Through the programme, Pastor 'Bobby' Wilmott and his co-hosts Pastor Black and Pastor Hay, have been able to offer prayers and guidance to Prayer Line listeners. They have earned the reputation of being truly interested in their listeners' well-being, and this comes as no surprise, as many times they visit their callers in just about any part of the island to offer additional prayer and comfort. They have even been invited to weddings which callers believe were made possible as a result of their prayers!

Over its almost twenty years history, the programme has also been successful in deepening relationships between pastors of different denominations, through the establishment of a 'prayer network'. As the programme is hosted on Sundays only, pastors of varying denominations in different parts of the island serve as 'prayer contacts' for those in need during the week. The programme has been a source of comfort particularly for the elderly, many of whom are unable to attend regular church services due to ill-health.

About the Lead Hosts: Pastor 'Bobby' Wilmott is Pastor of the Joy Town Branch (in Trench Town) of the Covenant Community Christian Church.
