About the Artist

Kaif Pape made his first sketch at age six and over the years has continued to hone his craft.

In 2010, as a young illustrator, Pape moved into digital illustrations as a member of The Gleaner's Youthlink Magazine and a student of the Edna Manley College of the Visual and Performing Arts.

In 2016, he was tasked with The Gleaner's 'Golden League', a special front page used to commemorate the 2016 Rio Olympics. Such was the impact of Pape's work that he was again commissioned in 2017 to create five illustrations mapping the trajectory of the world's fastest man - from birth to legend.

"I wanted to maintain as much of Usain Bolt's likeness as possible and put him at forefront of each piece," said Pape, whose realistic style of illustration, focuses on details.

Pape's illustrations took Bolt through five stages: baby, toddler, child, teenager and adult.
